Frank Lloyd Wright’s largest and last commission before he died is an ambitious complex featuring a 20-acre park and an 11-acre lagoon. While groundbreaking didn’t actually occur until 1960, a full year after the prolific modernist architect’s passing, Wright not only designed the building’s plans but the doors, signs and furniture within it as well. A historical landmark, its distinctive blue roof, pink walls and scalloped balconies are said to have been the inspiration for George Lucas’ structures on Naboo in his Star Wars films.
